Availability and Closures

We're constantly evolving and improving to give visitors the best possible experience at the museum.

Sometimes we may need to temporarily close areas of the museum - for maintenance, improvements or safety reasons. We thank you for your understanding and hope you enjoy the many adventures the museum offers.

Boardwalk Redevelopment:
The museum is undertaking a significant project to develop a wonderful, new and vibrant harbour frontage. Hoardings have been erected around key areas of the boardwalk along the harbourside of the museum and access routes may change during these extensive works.

While we make these improvements, please take extra care as you move around the site, keep an eye on our website for updates, and you can always ask one of our friendly team members for assistance.

Vessel Availability:

  • Replica tall ship Duyfken will be away from the museum for maintenance from mid-August.
