Mystery Shipwreck Activity 5 - Objects (Tingle)

Additional learning activity
Photo taken underwater of a large, semicircular stone with a black and yellow measuring stick next to it.

The broad arrow on the spike shows that the ship was owned by the British Royal Navy at some point, but we don’t know if it was still a navy vessel at the time of the shipwreck. It was common for the Royal Navy to sell older ships to private British individuals and companies once they no longer needed them.

Archaeologists use as many sources as possible in order to draw conclusions about the past, because sometimes artefacts (like this spike) can be misleading.
