Join the Ena Sanctum
and ensure that this remains a working vessel on Sydney Harbour
Designed by Australia’s first naval architect, Walter Reeks, and built by WM Ford at Berrys Bay, the vessel had been commissioned by Thomas Dibbs, the Manager of the Commercial Banking Company. It was launched on 8 December 1900 and featured luxurious saloons below decks and ample room for promenading above, and was powered by the latest steam technology.
SY Ena was donated to the Museum by John and Jacqui Mullen through the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts program. Further information its history can be found here.

A very special donor group
Members of the Ena Sanctum ensure that this unique 1900 steam yacht continues to sail on Sydney Harbour, providing a rare chance to see a working vessel of this era. As David Payne, co-author of the Walter Reeks biography states, SY Ena is much more than a vessel – it is a work of art, a superb piece of craftsmanship, a statement in elegance.
By joining the Ena Sanctum you will be ensuring the vessel’s preservation and have the opportunity to charter the vessel for day-sails on Sydney Harbour, with catering from the Sydney Restaurant Group.
