Personal Information Collection Statement – Visitors to the Australian National Maritime Museum during COVID-19 pandemic

Introduction

This statement deals with the Australian National Maritime Museum’s handling of the personal information of visitors during the COVID-19 pandemic. The statement has been informed by public health advice and orders from the Australian and NSW Governments, as well as the Museum’s privacy policy. As the public health risks of COVID-19 change, this statement and our procedures will be reviewed.

Personal information of visitors

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we encourage visitors to purchase their ticket online. This will assist the effective management of visitor numbers to ensure a safe experience for all visitors.

Visitors who have not purchased online are asked to provide their contact details on arrival to ensure accurate records of visitors are kept for each day.

What personal information do we collect from visitors?
If you buy online, we will collect personal information including your name, email address and phone number.
If you register on arrival, we will collect personal information including your name, phone number and number of people in your group.

Use and disclosure of personal information
Unless you expressly prohibit us (opt-out), we will disclose your name and telephone number to NSW Health or another authority (or agent) for the purpose of contact tracing related to containing the spread of COVID-19 if we are requested by them to do so. If you do not wish your details to be made available to NSW Health you may opt-out by completing an opt-out form.

We will not disclose the information provided for any other purpose, unless required by law.

Retention of personal information
We will retain the personal information we collect from you for at least 4 weeks and no more than 12 months.

We will retain opt-out forms for 12 months or a longer period required or permitted by law.
