Start time: Sensory Friendly Sundays access starts at 8.30am

This is a relaxed event so guests are welcome to arrive at any time that suits their schedule and stay as long as you like.

We recommend arriving in the first 60-90mins of the program to ensure you have a chance to enjoy the museum before it gets busy.

8.30am
Create your own art works and enjoy sensory science activities in Kids on Deck activity space (drop-in activities, open to 3pm).

Enjoy guided access with our friendly staff in the museum galleries (with exclusive access for SFS guests before 10.30am) and on the vessels* (selected dates only* see monthly highlights for details)

Sound and light levels in upper galleries have been modified to promote a more enjoyable experience up until 12.00pm today.

This is a relaxed event so guests are welcome to arrive at any time that suits their schedule. Guests are advised that the galleries will become busier and noisier towards 12pm onwards though so early morning visits will provide a more enjoyable experience.

10.00am – 12.00pm

Main doors to the museum open. If you arrive after this time you can register with our staff at the main counter and collect a sensory friendly map.

Enjoy the galleries, take a trail, book in a workshop, or enjoy a chill out time in one of our quiet and sensory spaces.

Visit the Cabinet of Curiosities to enjoy tactile exploration with our education collection objects and specimens

Explore what lies beneath the surface of the harbour with an underwater drones session (ages 7 and up)

12.00pm

Sensory friendly access ends.

Your ticket gives you all-day access to the museum and creative activities (activities are open to 3pm) so you are welcome to stay and play, but note that the galleries will be noisier and busier from this time.

You may want to rent one of our free sensory backpacks from the front desk for any visits outside of quiet hours.
