Hello and welcome to the Ocean Photographer of the Year, presented by Oceanographic Magazine and Blancpain.
The Ocean Photographer of the Year is a celebration of our beautiful blue planet, as well as a platform to highlight the many plights it is facing.
Photographers of all walks of life and experience levels were invited to submit their most impactful imagery to be considered by a panel of expert judges. Just 118 images were chosen from 15,000 submissions.
From breathtaking underwater images of unusual wildlife to stunning drone images of apex predators, the full spectrum of ocean life is revealed. This is an extraordinary collection of photography created by extraordinary ocean photographers: divers, surfers and sailors uniting to dazzle the world.
The Australian National Maritime Museum is proud to partner with Oceanographic Magazine and Blancpain in creating this exhibition, recognising the vital role the ocean plays in all our lives – and the role our lives play in the future of the ocean.
This exhibition contains audio description for category winners and wall-mounted 3d images you can explore through touch. Audio described and touch opportunities are signposted by tactile floor panels throughout the exhibition. Scan the QR code on the wall in each location to listen. There are 8 wall mounted touch panels and 12 audio described images. These include category winners and overall second and third place. Each tactile image has a brief introduction. Not all tactile images are category winners.
Thank you and we hope you enjoy the exhibition.
